Last updates on Valeria’s health

Valeria and her mother have a check up in Chisinau, but are not staying overnight in the hospital. It’s hot + 32 centigrade there and it’s almost impossible to stay in the ward. The baby is weeping of the heat. They need to make the Ultrasonic Diagnostic to exclude any internal diseases. We expect the results of Dasha’s (Valeria’s mother) blood from Moscow. It may be that Dasha was exposed to Chernobyl rays while inside the womb of her mother (Dasha’s mother was on vacation near Chernobyl when the accident took place and was on her 6th month of pregnancy. Thus Dasha was born with a various diseases). The doctor from St. Petersburg told us that the results of the test are important. It may be that Valeria’s anomaly is due to her mother’s exposure to the rays.

Dasha’s car has broken. They leave in a village about 60 km far from Chisinau and go to the hospital by car. It’s a big heat in the public bus and they missed to go to the hospital. They are fixing the car right now.

Valeria’s grandfather is back to Moscow for his job. He had a serious fracture of his leg and took a treatment in Chisinau. He and his wife are the main supporters of Valeria’s family. Dasha (Valeria’s mother) is unemployed and Eduard (Valeria’s father) is staying at home to look after his wife and baby and take them to the hospital.
The baby has got the 1st degree of disability. Her mother is entitled to look after the girl and both of them will get a pension of about 35 USD. This may cover only the costs of the nappies for the baby and daily needs, but is not good for her treatment.

We put the certificate of Valeria’s disability on the site.
We''ve got some good news! Dasha talked to the professor, who has invented a method to treat the phakomelia disability. He asked to bring the baby to him when she is 6 months and perform some tests there. They may stay the treatment right after and professor Shvedovchenko himself will make the operation to Valeria.
Another news! Dasha has got a call from a woman from the Moldovan TV and they want to put the information about Valeria on TV. We’ve got an appointment today!!!
GOD GRANT and we can raise the money for the treatment. The operation is very soon and the cost is very high. But we hope for the best!!!

Dasha talked to professor Shvedovchenko, who will operate the baby. He confirmed that they are waiting for Valeria at her 6 months and is going to send the projected costs.
The baby is doing well. Is playing actively, lifting up her legs and grabbing them with the little outgrowth of hand she has bringing the toes into her mouth.

Dasha (Valeria’s mather) talked to professor Shvedovchenko. He can''t tell us the costs of the first operation and is awaiting for doctor Koltzov (head of the department) from his holidays. Together they will make the calculations. We should wait 10 days.

Good news: The Organization of Social Protection of Moldova has contacted us. They have transferred 5000 Moldovan Lei (about 400 USD) for Valeria. Also, the Ministry of Health of Moldova promised to forward a petition to the Ministry of Health of Russia and ask for a favorable discount of cost of Valeria’s treatment.
